The Story of Cecilia

Maayan Nave

In 2019, at the amidst of the vibrant streets of Pretoria, South Africa, I had the honor of crossing paths with a brilliant( then) 10-year-old actress, Buyisiwe Sibiya, and her inspiring mother, Cecilia , that were chosen by me, BlueGreen’s Water Technologies Global CMO,  to represent BlueGreen’s efforts, making drinking water safe in Africa .Two years later after a very successful marketing campaign, we crossed together another significant path, from their native childhood neighborhood Mamelodi, a neighborhood with a history scarred by apartheid, to their current abode—a modest space they share with another family in a prime Johannesburg neighborhood. This move has been transformative: Cecilia now empowers young minds as a teacher, and Buyisiwe thrives in one of the city’s finest schools. The path that  connects people to companies that thrive only if the market they operate in also thrives, is one the most intuitive and powerful connections between capitalism and a world worth living .
